What are Meta Ads?

Advertising where your customers already spend their time

Meta Ads are paid advertisements shown across Meta's platforms, mainly Facebook and Instagram, plus Messenger and Meta's partner network. They're managed through Meta Ads Manager, where you choose an objective (such as leads, sales or website traffic), an audience, a budget and the ads themselves.

Unlike Google search ads, which appear when someone is actively searching, Meta Ads are interruption-based: they reach people while they scroll. That makes them very good at creating demand, showing off visual work, reaching people in a defined area, and re-engaging people who've already visited your website. New to the platform? Is it right for you?

Where Meta Ads tend to work well.

Meta Ads suit businesses with something visual or easy to explain, a clear offer and a way to capture interest. They're often a strong fit for local services, trades with before-and-after work, health and wellness, hospitality, events and e-commerce.

They're a weaker fit for urgent, search-driven needs. Someone with a burst pipe is more likely to search Google than wait for an ad. In those cases we'll tell you honestly, and may recommend Google Ads or local SEO first.

  • Generating enquiries for local and service businesses
  • Promoting offers, launches and seasonal campaigns
  • Selling products online with catalogue and retargeting ads
  • Building awareness in a specific town, region or audience
  • Bringing back website visitors who didn't enquire the first time

Creative strategy

The ad itself does most of the heavy lifting.

Meta's targeting has become increasingly automated, which means your creative (the image, video and words) plays a big part in who sees your ads and whether they act. We plan creative around a clear hook, a specific offer and a simple next step, then produce several variations to test.

That can include short-form video, carousel ads, static images, before-and-after posts and customer testimonials. Where we can, we use real photos and footage of your business, because authentic content usually builds more trust than stock imagery. Our content creation service can produce this for you.

Tracking & landing pages

If it isn't measured, it can't be improved.

Before spending a dollar, we set up conversion tracking (the Meta Pixel and Conversions API where appropriate) so campaigns can be optimised toward real enquiries or purchases rather than likes and clicks.

We also look at where people land after they click. Sending ad traffic to a generic homepage often wastes budget. A focused landing page that matches the ad's message usually converts better, and for lead generation we may use Meta's instant forms so people can enquire without leaving the app.

Frequently asked questions

What are Meta Ads?

Meta Ads are paid ads that run on Facebook, Instagram, Messenger and Meta's partner apps. You pay to show ads to a chosen audience, usually charged by impressions or results, and manage everything through Meta Ads Manager.

Do you advertise on both Facebook and Instagram?

Yes. Most campaigns run across both platforms, and we adjust placements and creative formats, such as Reels, Stories and feed posts, based on where your audience responds best.

How much should I spend on Meta Ads?

It depends on your goals, location, competition and the value of a new customer. We'll recommend a starting budget during your consultation that's large enough to gather useful data without over-committing. Ad spend is paid directly to Meta and is separate from our management fee.

Our guide on how much tradies should spend on marketing covers how to think about budgets.

How long before we see results?

Campaigns usually need a few weeks of data before meaningful patterns appear, and ongoing optimisation after that. We'll set realistic expectations up front and show you what we're learning along the way.

Can you guarantee a number of leads?

No, and you should be cautious of anyone who does. Results depend on your offer, market, budget, creative and how quickly enquiries are followed up. What we can promise is a clear strategy, careful setup, honest reporting and continual improvement.

Do you create the ads?

Yes. We write the copy and create or brief the visuals. If you have photos or video of your work we'll use them; if not, our content creation, photography and videography services can help.

Do you manage the campaigns ongoing?

Yes. Meta Ads perform best with regular attention: new creative, budget adjustments and testing. We manage campaigns month to month and report on results.

Whose ad account do the campaigns run in?

Yours. We run campaigns in your own Meta Business account, so you keep full ownership of your ad account, pixel data and campaign history.
